Eco-Camp in Kampong Samaki Community at Kampot Province 17-20

    From January 17 to 20, 2025, JS Service Cambodia organized a youth environmental Eco-camp in Kampong Samaki, Kampot Province. The program runs under the theme "Marine natural resources are an important part of sustaining human life in the world"

    Aiming to educate young people to find ways to care to find out more about marine resources and to participate in work to protect our invisible and rare resources that are threatening human activities.

    The event was attended by Rev.Fr. Greg, Priest in charge of Svay Sisophon Community, Mrs. Panh Chenda, Miss Nheb Kim Heang and many other youths from Svay Sisophon Community, Ta Hen Community, Karuna KBO, Tep Im Center, JSC -Eco and the community of Battambang.

    For this program has been done for many years, successfully conducted. In addition, all the young people who have explored the diverse life that lives under the sea and the loss of natural resources, including the underwater environment.

    Mr. Sok Kao is the Chairman of Kampong Samaki Fisheries Community Committee and he is the Advisor of Kampot Provincial Fisheries Administration, Konsat Commune Advisor, Kampong Nong Village Advisor, Kampong Tnaot Advisor and Elder,He introduced the participants to better understand the impact on the environment, especially biodiversity.

    He added that the factors that lead to this impact are due to the nature and peoplewho lack understanding to destroy. This area is a mangrove forest in Kampot province, where these forests are also endangered, including marine biodiversity.

    Mr. Sok Kao, the head of the community, instructed all young people to take care of it as much as possible and asked all young people to help spread the word to those who do not yet know.

    In the fishing community area of ​​Kampong Samaki, there are restaurants, catering, relaxing houses and beautiful scenery that all tourists should visit.

    At the end of the workshop, 200 mangrove trees were planted for endangered species, followed by recreation and eating.

    Taking this opportunity, all young people have made three promises and commitments: each person must plant at least 10 trees per year, reduce the use of all plastic bags and the use of water bottles that can be used Repeated several times.
